Three Year Study – Mini Biofilia
In the summer of 2020, a three-year assessment of the ecological trends of Lac-des-Seize-Iles began. It concluded last summer (2022) – you can read the final report here. This study was managed by two scientists Sylvain Miller (biologist) and Anne Letourneau (biochemist). They were supported by dozens of lake resident volunteers who managed and gathered data on the health of our lake over that three-year period – many hundreds of hours of work. The methodologies used in this study mirrored as closely as possible those used by previous studies, most prominently the exhaustive Biofilia study done in 2011. This was done so that we would have an idea of the relative health of our lake over a longer period of time and the trends. The good news is that our lake environment is quite healthy at present, however, to maintain this status there are areas that need to be addressed and ideas to implement improvements. This three-year study was jointly funded by Amis du Lac and our municipality.
It was presented to the community on Sunday, July 23 at 1 pm at the Municipal Hall.
